Abstract
The Smart Street Light is a modern type of lighting system used to minimize the consumption of energy with the PV cell as its source of power and DC Battery as its storage. The light intensity of LED Lamp will depend on the incorporation of ambient light sensor and motion sensor. The LDR sensor provides the ambient light in the area to cause the LED to turn ON when dark and to turn OFF when the surroundings are lighter. The Microwave Radar Sensor serves as a motion sensor, whether there is an object or people passing by. The use of a microcontroller, specifically the Atmega328p, in the Arduini Uno controls the light intensity of the Led from dimmed—which is 40% of the maximum intensity of its light when sensing darker ambient—into its maximum light intensity when sensing a moving object/s or people around the area of the Street Light. The Street Light was tested in a short-visited area to gather important data regarding the specifications of the said components used in this project.
Background of the Study
Street lights are essential to a community as it provide luminosity in times of need.
It also ensures the safety of the people such as the riders, drivers, pedestrians, and passengers as it gives light in order to avoid accidents. As endowing as it seems, this necessity requires too much energy even if it is not in use.
