Abstract

Energy sources can be renewable or non-renewable energy. These energies can be converted into secondary energy sources such as electricity. Non-renewable energies can be acquired from coal, petroleum, natural gas and uranium while renewable energies can be acquired from wind, solar, geothermal, hydro, biomass, marine, and many more. Due to rapid growth of the country’s industry, more energy is needed as most of the technologies need more power to operate causing non-renewable sources to be endangered as it was only derived from the remains of ancient sea-plants and animals million years ago. The researchers built an optimum device that is capable of gathering energy from footsteps. They made used of Piezoelectric disc and Steel Plane as a casing for the durability of the device and then layered it with a PVC mat. However, the main drawback of their design is that they used the piezoelectric disc instead of other piezoelectric transducers that are designed for energy harvesting. Despite the lacking, the researchers were able to satisfy their objectives since the piezoelectric disc is still capable of gathering the desired outputs. They recommended to improve the device and use other Piezoelectric Disc that are capable of harvesting massive energy.

Background of the Study

Energy sources can be renewable or non-renewable energy. These energies can be converted into secondary energy sources such as electricity. Non-renewable energies can be acquired from coal, petroleum, natural gas and uranium while renewable energies can be acquired from wind, solar, geothermal, hydro, biomass, marine, and many more. Due to rapid growth of the country’s industry, more energies are needed as most of the technologies need more power to operate causing non-renewable sources to be endangered as it was only derived from the remains of ancient sea-plants, planktons and animals million years ago. Though renewable energies are present, we still cannot solely rely on it even though it is unlimited and natural. Still, there are some factors needed to consider in implementing on any of the renewable energy sources like windmills that must be built near the coastal area for better operation, geothermal that must be located somewhere near a volcano and same for the other sources.
